Happy New Year!

Welcome everyone to 2026! We’re a little over a week into the new year, so this post will keep track of the past week (and some change) that we’ve had around here.

This year I wanted to hold myself more accountable so I wasn’t going crazy with the ever chaotic SAHM life. So let’s see what we got into the past nine days:

Home Projects
So I don’t know about all of you, but my mom can be overly superstitious about random things. One of those is during New Years Day; where there’s a number of things you’re “not supposed to do” for some reason or another. So we couldn’t do much on New Years Day because I’ve also been raised in the superstition so I suppose I’m also superstitious haha. Here’s some of the things I’m talking about:
-can’t buy anything because it means you’ll be spending money all year
-can’t sweep because it’ll sweep away your good luck (sweeping should be done on NYE to sweep out all of the years old worries or something)
-can’t crochet or knit unless you can finish the project by midnight. otherwise it’ll keep good fortune from the home
So with all those, New Years Day for our house is really just relaxing together and talking about what we hope the year brings.
That’s only one day though; we did go get a few different paints and other materials to get into a few different projects.
Here’s a couple small ones that we finished:
-Our laundry room outlet went out a few months back and we were using an extension cord to keep the washing machine going! I know! But it’s fixed now ❤
-My mom just got a new house and gave us the old fridge it had, so we were trying to move it into the garage and my stepdad accidentally broke one of the lightswitches because the fridge was too wide. Well we fixed that one too ❤

Books
I finished Dark Age by Pierce Brown on Jan 3. And if you’ve never read the Red Rising series, I beg you to give it a try. It doesn’t have any smut or truly any romantic relationships other than what you’d expect from a 6 (almost 7) book series. So I’ll admit I started this one at the end of December when it was around the holiday chaos. So there were a number of times I’d put it down and wouldn’t pick it back up for a bit; it’s a war book and the war doesn’t always keep me hooked. However, after the holiday chaos was over I was able to get back into not wanting to put it down. I listen to most of my books, and I was listening to this and driving to mom’s house. Well there was a part in it that made me so mad and upset that I was punching the steering wheel. Here’s a picture to show as proof that Pierce Brown is responsible for my therapy bill:

Fiber Arts
The one thing I’m working on every day when I’m waiting in line to pick up our oldest, is a knitted sweater that I’m hoping to finish before Jan 30. Here’s a picture of where we’re at so far.

Trips
Our oldest didn’t have to go to school until Tuesday, and since we’re only Pixie Dust annual pass members (the lowest one that only allows you to go during the weekdays) we decided to go on Monday. We got a room at Old Key West on Sunday night and me, my mom, and my three girls went while dad stayed home to start back at work. This was our first time staying at Old Key West and it was beautiful. We booked the one bedroom, and it was bigger than any other one bedrooms we’ve stayed at in the past. Then on Monday we spent the day at Magic Kingdom, here’s some pictures from that:
